Life Skills is intended to teach the mums to fish, not to just hand the fish to them. We have three programs in place at the moment in the Mirembe House. The first is Tailoring. The Tailoring lessons are conducted by Mrs. Joyce Kakande on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They are well attended by the young mothers. The aim is to make them gain skills so that they can be able to support themselves and their babies in the future.

The second class in place is the Handicrafts Program. This is a new skill that has been reintroduced to the MIrembe House. The girls have shown a positive response and some mums have already completed pieces and components of this course.

The third class in place is called Cookery Lessons and this class occurs on Wednesdays for young mums and Mirembe House pregnant girls. The Cookery Lessons are well attended as almost all of them enjoy their lessons and the taste of the food they are learning to cook. Mrs. Ida Mulira, the teacher has quick and simple recipes for readily available ingredients in Uganda. Girls acquire this kind of skill so that they can get a reasonably well paying job in the local restaurants in the towns in Uganda.
